Regex101 Enterprise Privacy Policy (Self-Hosted)

1. Scope

This policy applies to self-hosted Regex101 Enterprise and related licensing, billing, and support. It does not apply to the public regex101.com website or public Pro purchases.

2. Data Collection and Processing

Regex patterns, test strings, saved workspaces, and files are processed within the customer’s self-hosted deployment. regex101 ApS does not access that deployment or its workspace content.

The Enterprise API and MCP features run on the customer’s instance and do not use an external service to process workspace content.

Licensing, billing, and support records are separate from workspace content and are described below.

3. Network Communication

Built-in online checks contact:

• Keygen (api.keygen.sh): license validation using the license key, machine fingerprint, and license or machine identifiers.
• regex101 (docs.regex101.com by default): retrieval of release information.

Neither check transmits regex patterns, test strings, or other workspace content. Receiving services also receive ordinary connection metadata, such as the connecting IP address.

License validation runs at startup and periodically thereafter. A valid local license file can satisfy a check without an outbound request.

4. Offline Operation

An agreed offline license validates locally. In a fully air-gapped deployment, licensing and release checks do not communicate with external services. An unavailable release check does not interrupt operation.

Standard deployments may operate without internet access while their locally cached license remains valid.

5. Updates

The software periodically checks for new releases. The destination is configurable through ENTERPRISE_RELEASE_MANIFEST_URL. A failed or blocked release check does not interrupt operation. Checks do not install updates. Customers control whether and when to download and deploy updates.

Installation and updates may involve downloads from software registries, unless the required images are transferred offline.

6. Support Data

regex101 ApS receives information the customer chooses to provide for support, including ordinary business contact details and correspondence.

Support submissions must not include credentials, trade secrets, sensitive personal data, or other confidential production or third-party information unless expressly agreed in writing by regex101 ApS. Logs and examples should be redacted where necessary.

7. Third-Party Components

The software includes third-party and open-source components. If the customer configures an external authentication provider, sign-in communicates with that provider and the application receives account information needed for authentication.

8. Data Storage Outside Customer Environment

regex101 ApS uses Visma to store business contact and billing information and to issue invoices, and Keygen to administer and validate licenses. Keygen records may include the customer’s company name, contact name, email address, license identifiers, and an optional registry-account username.

Support correspondence is also handled outside the customer’s deployment. These records do not give regex101 ApS access to content stored in the deployment.

9. Changes to This Policy

regex101 ApS may update this policy to reflect changes in the software or related services. Material changes will be communicated alongside software or licensing updates. Publication does not itself amend existing contractual commitments.

10. Contact

Individuals may contact privacy@regex101.com to exercise applicable rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, or data portability. Complaints may also be submitted to the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet). Requests concerning data held only in the customer’s deployment should be addressed to the customer.
